As a Partner for this limited liability real estate partnership I directed an award winning $650K certified historic restoration in the French Quarter of a circa 1850's Creole townhouse. I researched the purchase and financing of property working and negotiating directly with the Hibernia bank during the construction and placement of final financing. During the renovation construction I worked with and supervised the Architect, Carpenters, plumbing and HVAC contractors, electricians, exterior masonry craftsman, painters and designer. Established the subsequent rental management, advertised, interviewed, performed background verifications and managed the building tenants and on-going maintenance including payment of all expenses. In addition, I was responsible for annual preparation of Partnership Financial Statements and Income tax returns including partnership K-1's.

Phelps, Dunbar, et al,   ACCOUNTING MANAGER,   $30 million multi office commercial law firm.    4/1983 – 10/1985

 

Managed the accounting function for the largest Law firm in New Orleans. Worked directly with the firm's Legal Administrator. Prepared monthly, quarterly, and annual Financial and operating statements. Supervised, reviewed, evaluated, and developed an accounting staff of thirteen. Directed the disbursement of Partner draw accounts and balanced the share accounts. Reviewed and approved all accounts payable activity. Coordinated the cash-basis and accrual-basis monthly Billings function. Managed the client-trust accounting functions in excess of $50 million annually. I facilitated the relationship with the external auditors and coordinated the preparation of the firm’s tax return. Orchestrated the physical move of accounting staff into new offices in the Texaco Center without interruption of operations and timely reporting. Successfully directed the disbursement of a $ 2 million build-out line of credit related to the new offices.

Employed as a staff accountant in the Audit department. I assisted in the training and supervision of junior auditors while participating in the audits of medium and large clients in the southern Louisiana area. I gained experience in the audit of; local banks, savings and loans, general contractors, manufacturers, law firms, oil service, and oil & gas companies. I trained in advanced auditing procedures and in income tax preparation.

9/1979 – 11/1980

 

Employed as a staff auditor while training in the audits of large clients such as; contractors and nursing homes for this major public accounting firm. Assigned to a ten-month project as a subcontract auditor for the Department of Energy, audit compliance division in Washington, D.C.. As a result of this auditing of the transfer prices of offshore affiliates, an assessment of over $1.2 billion in fines for overcharging crude oil prices during the oil embargo was levied against seven of  the major oil companies.
